Lion Lights is the amazing true story of Richard Turere, a young Maasai living in Kenya. This is the story of how he, as a small child, invented a way to protect his family’s cows from hungry lions and at the same time ended the need to kill lions that were attacking the cows. Now his invention is being used all over the world. This book will inspire children everywhere to do amazing things!Ms. Pollock will be at the Museum to share this delightful story with families this month! We’ll have crafts, games, and music related to this story of invention and ingenuity. This book has recently won 2 awards: The National Science Teachers Award for outstanding science trade books for students and The California Reading Association Eureka Award for excellence in nonfiction. Shelly Pollock is a retired teacher who taught children and adults reading and math for over 25 years.
